Benicia Public Library, May 27th to June 29th. Benicia CA, 2023

Welcome, thank you very much for visiting this show that I hope you enjoy as much as I have done preparing it for you. Very happy to be part of the history of this important library now.
Marilyn Citron O’Rourke Gallery, great artists have exhibited their art here. I thank the directors and members of the council of the Library, for allowing me to show you my work.
Benicia was the first capital, is where the modern California State was born, here there were important events that shaped Californian life, Benicia was once called the Athens of the American West, here The first schools were founded. This was originally the capital of the State, although it was only one year. The history of this region is truly exciting. Cradle of three civilizations, the native, the Spanish-Mexican and American. Today this City is home to a large community of artists.
Allegory was born as a personal project in the midst of the 2020 pandemic, to overcome the challenges that new times impose on us. A sailboat became the perfect allegory to describe my project. I made a sailboat with my sculpture technique, a lonaria that is part sculpture and part sailboat in which I have sailed through the bay, I was accompanied on a couple of occasions by Michael Van Auken, an extraordinary photographer and Jaquie DuBois, lover of Art History. Maritime life is closely linked to the history of Benicia, for this reason I presented it as a social-artistic project in 2022 to the Benicia culture and art commission. The project was very attractive for the committee and perhaps it can be carried out in the future, I hope not too distant. Various works are inspired around this project, as you can see. Others are inspired by the environment and the extraordinary life of Benicia. All of them result in this exhibition: Ällegory, Metaphors of life. Thanks for being here. I’d love to get your feedback.
